Working
as a non-profit, 501c3 volunteer citizen organization, the Rock Creek
Lake Alliance (RCLA), was organized after several public meetings and
the desire for more structured interactions between the public and state
offices. The group's mission statement is as follows:

"The
Rock Creek Lake Alliance will work in cooperation with the Department of
Natural Resources, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land
Stewardship, the Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation District, and
other local agencies to enhance environmental quality and recreational
opportunities at Rock Creek Lake and in Rock Creek State Park. The
Alliance works to explore sources of funding and work to provide labor
for lake and park improvement projects, as well as initiating public
educational programs for children and adults".
