The Rock Creek Lake Alliance

Working as a non-profit, 501c3 volunteer citizen organization, the Rock Creek Lake Alliance (RCLA), was organized after several public meetings and the desire for more structured interactions between the public and state offices. The group's mission statement is as follows:

Above: 10 watershed identification signs were designed and installed by the Rock Creek Lake Alliance in the fall of 2003.
"The Rock Creek Lake Alliance will work in cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation District, and other local agencies to enhance environmental quality and recreational opportunities at Rock Creek Lake and in Rock Creek State Park. The Alliance works to explore sources of funding and work to provide labor for lake and park improvement projects, as well as initiating public educational programs for children and adults".

3 message kiosks were constructed and placed in the park to inform visitors of watershed and RCLA activities.

Two covered picnic tables have been constructed and dedicated by the RCLA.

RCLA President Pat Patty and Keri Batterson accept a $500 matching grant from Wal-Mart.  This money will be used to begin construction of an interpretive trail at Rock Creek State Park.
